26.05 - insured.io Breaks the Internet
Insured Portal Registration Link Expiration
This release implements an expiration process for Insured Portal registration links received in the registration email to activate their new account. Links will now expire after three days (72 hours) if the user has not clicked the link to complete the registration of their account. Upon deployment, all non-verified Insured Portal accounts will be set to Expired. CSRs can resend the registration email from Insights, which sends a new link and restarts the expiration timer. This is part of our ongoing effort to tighten our security and compliance processes.

Insured Portal Account Expiration
We have implemented an expiration process for Insured Portal accounts. Accounts that have not been accessed in the last 2 years (730 days) will receive an email notification advising them to log in within the next 30 days to keep their account active. If no login is detected, the account will expire, and the user will need to create a new account the next time they wish to log in. This will be an ongoing process that runs daily to keep all Insured Portal accounts current and to expire any that have not logged in for 790 days. This is part of our ongoing effort to tighten our security and compliance processes.

Team Poll: Starch Madness
Team Poll: Starch MadnessTo celebrate March Madness with the rest of the country, we held a tournament at insured.io to determine our team’s favorite potato preparation from a list of 16 of America’s most popular potato dishes. After a fierce battle of carbs, crunch, and comfort food, the votes have been counted, and the Starch Madness Champion has been crowned. The PlayersPoutine French Fries Waffle Fries Curly Fries Mashed Potatoes Scalloped Potatoes Baked Potatoes Stuffed Potato Skins Hash Browns Potato Latkes/Potato Pancakes Potato Chips Tater Tots Potato Salad Potato Soup Gnocchi Roasted PotatoesThe BracketClick the following Canva link to view the Potato Bracket with scores: Starch MadnessThe Highlight ReelOur biggest blowout was an unsurprising victory when French Fries obliterated Poutine 11 to 0.The closest matchups were both in our first round. We witnessed the battle of the Starter Course dishes: Potato Salad beat Potato Soup by 1 point, for a total of 6. Stuffed Potato Skins gained the same close victory over its cousin, the Baked Potato.French Fries and Hash Browns dominated the bracket, never scoring fewer than 7 votes in any round.ResultsFrench Fries dominated the left side of the bracket while Hash Browns pulled through as a surprising crowd favorite. Although Hash Browns scored 2 more votes in the semifinals than French Fries, the team, with a score of 8 to 3, decided that French Fries would reign victorious and be crowned King of the Potato.Expert Panelist CommentsJay: “Given that we rated against other "types" of fries (curly, waffle, etc), at base value, fries are boring. Hash browns offer a lot more versatility, specifically in toppings; think Waffle House! Hash brown casserole? All...DAY!”Anonymous: “I mean, because…it's hashbrowns. Yum! ”

26.02 - Whale Identity
~ IT'S OUR BIRTHDAY ~
We’re turning 15! insured.io hits a big milestone, and we couldn’t have done it without you. Thank you for being part of the journey—here’s to building smarter, smoother insurance experiences together for many more years.
Team Poll: Whale Identity
Team Poll: Whale IdentityFor this month’s poll, we decided to have our team members self-assess their personality types when it comes to professional, social, and family settings. Since February also happens to be Humpback Whale Awareness Month, we used whales to identify ourselves with! Reminiscent of a Buzzfeed quiz, let’s see what kind of whale pod we’ve formed over here at insured.io.Whale IdentitiesIn this poll, each person got to attribute their professional self, social self, family self, or whole self to any of the following whales:🐋 Blue Whale: The blue whale is the largest animal to ever exist, yet it’s calm, gentle, and doesn’t seek attention. It moves through the ocean quietly and confidently, relying on its presence rather than noise. This whale represents steady confidence and strength without the need to prove anything. 🎶 Humpback Whale: Humpback whales are known for their beautiful, ever-changing songs and playful behavior. They’re expressive, curious, and emotionally aware, often communicating in creative ways. This whale fits those who lead with creativity and feel most themselves when they’re sharing or performing. 🧠 Orca (Killer Whale): Orcas are highly intelligent, strategic, and deeply loyal to their pods. They live in close-knit families, communicate constantly, and protect their own. This whale represents leadership, emotional intelligence, and strong bonds with the people you trust. 😊 Beluga Whale: Belugas are extremely social and vocal, earning the nickname “the canary of the sea.” They appear friendly and expressive, often bringing energy to their group. This whale matches people who are adaptable, optimistic, and naturally lift the mood around them. 🧭 Gray Whale: Gray whales complete one of the longest migrations of any mammal, showing remarkable endurance and resilience. They’ve survived huge challenges and keep moving forward no matter the distance. This whale represents perseverance, growth, and quiet determination. 🌊 Sperm Whale: Sperm whales dive deeper than any other whale, spending long stretches in silence and focus. They are thoughtful, complex, and comfortable exploring the unknown. This whale reflects introspection, depth, and a love for meaningful ideas and conversations. 🦄 Narwhal: Narwhals live in Arctic waters and are known for their long, spiral tusk, which is actually an extended tooth used to sense their environment. They are highly social within their pods but prefer distance from humans and react poorly to disturbances. Thriving in cold, challenging conditions, they move quietly and observantly, reflecting individuality, adaptability, and calm confidence that doesn’t seek attention.ResultsOut of 11 responses, one thing is clear: we are a pod-first company. The Orca swam decisively into first place with 10 total selections, making it the most-identified whale overall. Orcas dominated especially in family life (4 votes), reinforcing the idea that loyalty and protectiveness run deep in this crew. They also showed up professionally and socially (2 votes each), plus 2 people who said, essentially, “Orca is just who I am, everywhere.” Safe to say - it’s a killer pod.Close behind was the Humpback Whale with 8 total selections, evenly distributed across professional, social, and family categories (2 each), plus 2 “all situations” votes. That balance suggests we have a strong creative current running through the team — expressive at work, playful socially, and emotionally present at home. One of the most interesting trends? Depth and introspection show up strongest in our social lives. The Sperm Whale led the social category with 4 votes, more than any other whale in any single category besides Orca-family. Apparently, when we’re off the clock, meaningful conversations and thoughtful dives are the vibe. The Gray Whale quietly impressed with the most “all situations” votes (3), signaling a few teammates who see themselves as resilient migrators, no matter the setting. Meanwhile, the Blue Whale split evenly between social and family identities (3 each) — calm, steady strength that shows up most in close-knit environments. The Beluga selections were nicely balanced across categories, reflecting adaptable team members who flex depending on context. And while the Narwhal had the fewest total votes (4), it stood out for being primarily a social identity (3 of the 4). Translation: our rare, quietly confident unicorns come out most when they’re among friends.Overall, the data paints a clear picture: we’re strategic and loyal at our core, creative and expressive close behind, and surprisingly introspective when we gather socially. A pod with leadership instincts, emotional intelligence, resilience, depth, and just enough unicorn energy to keep things interesting.TestimonialsAnonymous: “I don't know that my answers are accurate, but I love whales more than any other mammal. I studied humpbacks in college and wrote a couple of really long research papers on them. I received an "A" on both, which was rare for me in biology ”Michael: “I really want to be a Narwhal so I am”Erika: “Whales are such beautiful and intelligent creatures. I hope to meet one someday!”Anonymous: “Can I vote for a Whale shark?”

26.01 - Classic Video Games

Team Poll: Classic Video Games
Team Poll: Classic Video GamesWe’re back to kick off the new 2026 year with a new sprint theme! This year, we’ll be conducting a company-wide poll here at insured.io to get to the bottom of the universe’s most important subjects and questions. Each release, you’ll be able to hear from our team and get a peek into the internal psyches of your favorite technology partner. As some of you may recall, our 2023 theme was one of our favorites: Classic Video Games! (Scroll back through our releases to jog your memory.) So why not start the year off right with a friendly poll to get to the bottom of who insured.ioreally is and decide once and for all what the BEST classic video game is? Like we said - this is some hard-hitting stuff. The list of games we’ll be judging is pulled straight from our 2023 sprint names and is listed below. Now, the word “classic” may be a surprising way to describe some of these games, but let’s not get too caught up in the semantics before we accidentally call 1999 “retro” and 1980 “antique”. Check back after our production deployment on Monday, January 12th to see the results of our poll and a few testimonials from our team members. We hope you love our new team theme as much as we do!Classic Video Games PollTetris, Tempest, Myst, Frogger, Minesweeper, Zelda, Pac-Man, Asteroids, Quake, Donkey Kong, Centipede, Pong, DoomResultsThe results are in! Our team voted on their favorite classic video game, and Doom made it out on top. Zelda rang in a close second, and Tetris followed up in third. Below are a few testimonials and love letters from our team members.Julia: “I have a tattoo of Doom's "god mode" cheat code, so it is no surprise Doom gets my vote.” Michael: “I cracked Quake” Jay: “Zelda? How long you got? If it's any less than the rest of your day, you don't have time for me to gush over it. It's the perfect blend of puzzle solving, exploration, and adventure. It gave you nothing, dropped you in a panel with 3 paths and a door, and said "Go". There were risks for venturing too far, but it wasn't impossible; you were rewarded for being skilled, braving the unknown, and trying new things. It was many people's first time feeling like they got to be the hero they only got to read about in books. The design is beautifully crafted to guide you towards your goals without holding your hand, so you still felt like you earned it; YOU figured it out. All of this paired with a soundtrack from Koji Kondo, morphing the restrictions of the hardware in ways that capture everything from the excitement of exploration to the dread of facing off against fearsome monsters in a composition that still holds to this day. In my opinion, Zelda (and multiple iterations throughout the franchise) is a cornerstone in what a video game CAN be, time and time again.”
